Once again, this election continues to create more questions than answers. There are many questions about Trump’s inability and lack of desire to be ‘presidential,’ but the fastest rising question is “was the election rigged?”
First of all let’s make one fact perfectly clear; the Electoral College is un-American. This outdated system is unfair to individual voters who often realize that their vote did not count. It must be eliminated and allow the American people to elect our president.
That said, Hillary Clinton will have won the popular vote by an enormous margin. More that two million votes will separate her from Trump, and prove that for most Americans, Trump will never be our president.
So is it a possibility that the election results were manipulated? Apparently so.
I am not into conspiracy theories, but it remains difficult for me to believe that all of the polls were that far off from the results. All demographics other than whites supported Hillary. The numbers in the majority of the swing states favored Hillary. She won the popular vote from more than two million Americans.
J Alex Halderman is a professor at the University of Michigan. He described a scenario in which the voting machines in some states could be hacked.
“First, the attackers would probe election offices well in advance in order to find ways to break into their computers,” he wrote. “Closer to the election, when it was clear from polling data which states would have close electoral margins, the attackers might spread malware into voting machines in some of these states, rigging the machines to shift a few percent of the vote to favor their desired candidate.
“This malware would likely be designed to remain inactive during pre-election tests, do its dirty business during the election, then erase itself when the polls close. A skilled attacker’s work might leave no visible signs — though the country might be surprised when results in several close states were off from pre-election polls.”
Several ‘election watchdog groups’ are suggesting a recount in certain states where the results were very questionable. Hillary Clinton, herself, has made no comments regarding the possibility. The recount is the idea of independent groups who closely monitor elections.
What do you think? As I previously mentioned, I am seldom into conspiracies. But this election offers some serious questions. I will never believe that there were enough ignorant voters who actually believed Trump was fit to be our president.
