Donald Trump loves the second amendment; only because the NRA supported his candidacy. The first amendment is another story; he wants to repeal what our founding fathers considered the most important section of the Constitution. If you haven’t read it in a while, here’s what it commands.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
The Supreme Court has upheld multiple issues related to first amendment violations. The first amendment contains our right to vote, and our right to express our beliefs freely. It also protects the media in all legal efforts to inform the people of our nation when their government is failing to uphold the law or protect the American people from violations of their inalienable rights. It also forbids the establishment of a single religion as our national religion, at the same time protecting the rights of all Americans to choose the practice of any religion, or none at all.
Trump does not believe in most of the first amendment. He attempted to suppress the votes of thousands of Americans on November 8th. Now he is falsely claiming that millions of illegal residents voted on that day and cost him the popular vote by a very large margin.
Trump has waged a long war against the media, and has attempted to censor what they report post-election. He displays a great deal of ignorance; the media campaigned for Trump endlessly, and ignored all of the other candidates.
He has also denounced protesters across the nation for their patriotic and Constitutional actions. He is not happy that they are refusing to accept him as their president. The truth is that more than one-half or our nation will never call him “president.”
Today, in a fascist leading statement, Trump declared that anyone who burns the American flag should lose their citizenship, or spend a year in jail.
This uneducated and unfit president-elect is once again proving that he does not know anything about our government, or how it works.
In 1967, the Supreme Court forbade the removal of citizenship as a form of punishment. In 1990, they handed down a decision stating that burning the flag was covered under the first amendment, and was considered free speech. Time for Trump to retake fifth grade U.S. history, if he ever took it at all.
Here is the whole truth. If Trump is allowed to take the oath of office on January 20, 2017, he will be asked to lie. I have sworn in hundreds of Americans in my life, and the crucial part is when they must promise to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” Trump does not accept the “law of the land;” as usual he knows more than anyone else.
For the first time in our history, millions of ignorant voters elected a man who is not an American. They elected a man who would be America’s fuhrer in a fascist regime.
I cannot support or respect any man or woman who would destroy our democracy, believes in white supremacy, is an alleged sexual predator, and proposes the most violent religion in history as our nation’s only religion.
For more than 65 million men and women like myself, religion must be removed from having any influence in our government. Those who choose to believe in cults, must keep their religious practice away from Washington.
