It is time to take a long look at what a Mike Pence presidency would look like. Knowing the many criminal actions Trump has committed or may have, it is highly possible that he could be impeached. That would leave the nation with a very dangerous and ignorant man as our nation’s president.
Mike Pence accepted Trump’s offer to become his running mate for one primary reason; he would have lost his reelection bid for the governorship of Indiana. His popularity was at an all time low, after he cost his state millions of dollars in revenue.
Pence was the first governor in the nation to sign anti-gay laws. He allowed businesses to deny service to same-sex couples based on religious belief. He joined with others who are adamant about mixing government and religion, which violates the first amendment.
Even more troubling is the fact that Pence believes in ‘conversion therapy.’
Although psychiatric professionals have jointly denounced this act by religious extremists, Pence insists that it works. His belief that homosexuals are made, and that their “condition” can be reversed, has been reported as extremely dangerous. If this is not the greatest display of ignorance I have ever heard of, I have no idea what might be worse.
If Pence became our president, we would have in office a man who cherishes homophobia, and would attempt to institute the most violent religion in history as the only cult in our nation; Christianity. This would repeal the first amendment; a goal he and Trump share.
Let’s be clear; let’s tell the truth; Pence and his claim to be a Christian are a smoke screen. No one can claim to be a Christian if they do not believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is judgmental, filled with hate, and refuses to offer love and compassion for his fellow man. These are in direct opposition to the bible, if you believe that it is a truth filled book of knowledge.
Far too many Americans hide behind phony religious beliefs. If you claim to be a man or woman who lives a life based on the teachings of men who stand behind pulpits, then you must act in the manner ordered by your priest or minister. You cannot claim to be a man or woman of faith, and continue to violate the words of your god as proclaimed by your religious leader.
Imagine who Pence would nominate as a Supreme Court Justice. It could be Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, or Ben Carson. It would be a man, and he would be worse than Antonin Scalia; although that seems impossible. Under a Pence presidency same-sex marriage would be overturned; all abortions would become illegal; and voting laws intended to suppress the votes of minorities would be upheld.
With Trump or Pence as our illegitimate president, the American people lose.
