While Trump is costing the city of New York more than $500,000 a day for increased security, he suggests that Boeing’s contract to build two new “Air Force One’s” should be canceled due to the cost. Really?
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is asking compensation for Trump’s selfish decision to conduct his business in his golden tower. The cost until election day is predicted to be $35 million. Why Trump is not being forced to pay for it himself, I do not understand; he is not a government employee as of today.
As for Boeing, Trump is likely retaliating against America’s largest aircraft manufacturer because they disagree with his fiscal policies.
In 2013 Trump claimed to have purchased stock in Boeing; calling it a “great company.” He says that he sold that stock in June, but Trump telling the truth would be rare. The issue is related to Trump’s rants against fair trade, and his proposal to institute a system of free trade which would deregulate huge corporations, support ‘no-bid’ contracts, and allow even more bloated profits while offering nothing to the working class.
“Anyone who paid attention to the recent campaigns and the election results realizes that one of the overarching themes was apprehension about free and fair trade,” Dennis Muilenberg, Boeing’s CEO said at the Illinois Manufacturing Association last week, as noted by Tribune columnist Robert Reed. Fair trade has helped Boeing, which prides itself on being America’s largest manufacturing exporter.
In a recent article denouncing Trump’s verified failed economic plans, Boeing was singled out for its success under the Obama Administration.
Boeing received the contract in 2015, and the two 747’s will be available in about a decade. Trump has given indications that he wants to use his personal aircraft; a decaying 757 which required 6.7 million dollars in repairs during his campaign, paid for by donor money.
There is no estimate regarding the cost of converting Trump’s fossil with the necessities of an aircraft suitable for our nation’s president, but the minimum would require hundreds of millions of dollars.
Trump’s entire plan since November 9th is to place him in complete control of every action in Washington. He is acting like our nation’s first fuhrer rather than an elected president. He continues to prove himself unfit to be the leader of the free world. His lack of understanding regarding how governments around the world work with each other is very frightening. His circle of sinners has no qualifications; therefor Trump has no legitimate advisers.
Make no mistake about it; Trump is worse than most of us believed. It should have been enough of a fact that he is a white supremacist and an alleged sexual predator to disqualify him for the most powerful office in the world. But Republican voters frequently elect convicted criminals; their only concern is having an “R” next to his name on a ballot. Now, even his most avid supporters are learning about his lack of knowledge and intellect. He is a disaster, and he will take our nation down with him.
