Donald Trump criticized President Obama for not supporting Israel recently at the United Nations. He was wrong; again. Our real President was displaying his lack of support for Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Mr. Obama is not alone; Netanyahu has been denounced by several retired generals from the small nation’s armed forces.
Israel received statehood in 1948. For 69 years Palestinians have been denied equality. An increasing number of nations around the world support granting the Palestinian people their one desire. The greatest obstruction which denies this reality is a refusal by Netanyahu to negotiate with Palestinian leadership. Instead, he has encouraged the creation of additional settlements in the west bank with actions that can only be labeled as ‘land grabbing.’
Donald Trump is easily manipulated; stroking his ego will get results when logic and the facts fail. Right wing extremists have convinced him to blindly support Netanyahu’s position.
Trump was horribly wrong when he claimed that President Obama and Secretary of State, John Kerry, did not respect Israel as a Jewish state. They are in fact supporting the people of Israel who desire a lasting peace in the region, and they are recognizing the needs of the Palestinian people at the same time.
Trump hates the truth, and denies facts. He claims to know everything, when in fact he knows nothing. His lack of knowledge related to international relations is very worrisome. The fact that he has surrounded himself with those who know less than he knows is frightening.
Trump is an ignorant man. He over-estimates his personal power as the president, and he foolishly believes that America can stand alone in the world. Trump is most dangerous because of his weak mental capacity. He would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons if his feelings were hurt. He just doesn’t get it, and he never will.
Groups planning protests against the egomaniac are growing in number across the nation. Over the last two days more than 350 individual groups began organizing to speak against Trump’s evil and destructive agenda.
You can join the revolution, or at the least call or e-mail your congressmen and senators. Let them know that if they want your vote in 2018, they must support the majority and deny the influence of special interests. Tweeting doesn’t get the job done.
