When two men who hate the American people; who represent the worst of our nation; were scheduled to speak at U C Davis yesterday, students filled the streets around the university in protest.
Milo Yiannopoulos writes for the extreme right wing publication, Brietbart. This is the same rag once headed by Trump’s White House adviser Steve Bannon. Like Bannon, Yiannopoulos is a member of Alt-Right, the white supremacist group who is now represented in Washington by Trump’s administration. The Administration of the University of California at Davis, U C Davis, scheduled this deplorable Trump supporter to speak yesterday on the campus. Students rejected the very idea of such an extreme racist granted the right to espouse his despicable views at their university. Thousands marched in the streets demanding that he be forbidden an opportunity to voice his prejudices.
Also scheduled to speak was one of the most hated men in America; a man who believes that money has more value than the lives of the American people. Martin Shkreli was the CEO of a pharmaceutical company who price gouged life saving drugs. He justified the action based on the fact that his company had the right to make as much money as possible. After his deplorable action, he was subsequently indicted on charges of security fraud. He was scheduled to join Yiannopoulos at U C Davis Friday.
The protests were so large, and so boisterous, the university was forced to cancel the event.
Is this the location history will define as ‘where the revolution began?’ Americans who believe in the country of our founding fathers will never accept a Trump presidency. He is not an American. He believes in one god; profit. He is a white supremacist, a bigot, and a sexist. A man who has no morals cannot be allowed to lead our nation and the free world. Many of his supporters and his circle of sinners are also supporters of people like Yiannopoulos and Shkerli. These men are the reason America will never be a great nation. Unless all of our nation’s people are allowed the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, we have no reason to be proud. We may love our country, but despise the right wing extremists in Washington.
Personally, I am proud of the students at U C Davis. I believe that free speech is the most important right guaranteed by the Constitution, but these two men have no right to profess their hatred for the majority of the American people in front of a group of young men and women who believe in liberty and justice for all. Bigotry and hatred are not free speech; they oppose the principles upon which our nation was founded.
Weren’t we punished enough over the last 20 months by Trump? His rhetoric was nothing more than an effort to create anger, hatred, and division within our nation.
