A Little Laughter at the Expense of Kellyanne Conway

Kellyanne Conway is Trump’s personal ‘spin doctor;’ that is her only real function. She was called his ‘campaign manager,’ but her real job was far removed from political strategy. She was hired by Robert Mercer to spin Trump’s lies and outlandish statements into something which was acceptable to a segment of the voting public.

Trump has a new press secretary; his name is Sean Spicer. Trump ordered him to conduct an impromptu press conference Saturday to defend the media’s depiction of the extremely small turnout at Trump’s inauguration, although overhead photographs offered undeniable proof that only a minuscule number of supporters were in attendance. He said that; “this was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period — both in person and around the globe.”

Okay, this is funny; sometimes lies can make you smile, especially when they are so flagrant. But the real laughter came on “The View” today. They had fun mocking Kellyanne Conway for her comments on “Meet the Press” Sunday to moderator Chuck Todd.

Conway labeled Spicer’s comments “alternative facts;” yes, that’s is exactly what she said, and the words almost forced Todd to have a mental breakdown.

She could not even say it with a straight face,” Whoopi Goldberg noted. “Well, ‘alternative facts,’ I don’t know, I was raised that an ‘alternative fact’ is not a fact. An ‘alternative fact’ is a lie. Even people that are for him — this will erode their beliefs. Because they have ears and they’re paying attention and this is not what they bargained for.”

Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar disagreed and said that Trump’s unprincipled supporters will go along with anything the orange man says.

What surprises me about Kellyanne Conway, in particular, is that she’s a pollster,” Hostin said. “So she deals in numbers and you could see she almost threw up a little bit in her mouth when she said the whole ‘alternative facts.’ Because she knows this not to be true.”

I must admit that I was a little more unkind when I saw what Conway wore to the convention. She looked like she was dressed to ride in the GOP’s now infamous ‘clown car.’ She had joined her boss as one of politics greatest buffoons.

I must admit, this is a clever way of saying ‘lie’ without offering the negative connotation of the three letter word. But a lie is a lie no mater how the letters of the English language are arranged.

Conway’s inability to directly and truthfully answer any question makes her laughable, but this exchange with Chuck Todd was truly hilarious.
