After Kellyanne Conway’s statement about “alternative facts” Sunday, sales of a book published in June of 1949 are spiking. George Orwell wrote a distressful novel describing a future government based on totalitarian philosophy. “1984” is once again the number one seller on Amazon.

The novel describes a government which replaces historical facts with new, state-approved “facts.” In the book the truth is twisted to create confusion within the populous; the same tactics Conway uses in her interviews. Trump is employing other tactics Orwell contrived such as attempting to subvert the facts of his close ties with Vladimir Putin by pivoting the issue of voter fraud. He continues to make proven false allegations that three to five million illegal residents cast their ballot for Hillary Clinton. This is also an effort to minimize the fact that Hillary crushed him in the popular vote and received the people’s mandate.

Also in “1984,” all science is controlled by the totalitarian government. Dissemination of previous scientific fact is prohibited, and only the “facts” offered by government leaders is accepted as “truth.” Donald Trump is attempting to use the same tactic denying the scientific fact of man-made climate change. It was expected, because Trump claims that he knows more about everything than anyone else.

Finally, in “1984,” the population in under 24-hour-a-day surveillance by their government.

Trump claims that he has an open mind, while at the same time nominating Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency. As the Attorney General of Oklahoma, Pruitt was “owned” by the oil and gas companies. He still remains engaged in lawsuits he filed against the EPA.

Trump has also ordered all references to climate change removed from the EPA’s website.

If you examine the ‘reverse dictionary,’ you will see that the name ‘Trump’ is a synonym for LIAR.

Is Trump using “1984” as a blueprint for his distorted view of America? It would appear so. He hates the truth, facts, freedom, and democracy. Trump is a bully who has cheated and lied his way to financial and now political success with the aid of Vladimir Putin and Robert Mercer.

His selection of advisers and his cabinet prove that his goal of creating a plutocracy is well under way. A plutocracy cannot exist without totalitarian or fascist rule.

Democrats are failing the American people as well by voting in favor of Trump’s circle of sinners. The second American Revolution is in its infancy; we must help it grow and succeed.
