I expected this from the most immoral man in America, and it has become a reality. What could make America a great country are its people, but Trump’s fascist government is guaranteeing that not only will we never be ‘great,’ we will soon be known as the most despicable nation on the planet. Trump’s executive actions are destroying the quality of life for millions of Americans. They are removing compassion from our nation’s beliefs as Trump refuses to allow some of the most desperate people in the world entry into the United States; (of course, nations in which he has business interests are not included). Trump is re-instituting torture as standard operating procedure during interrogation of our suspected enemies.
Not only is his CIA director, Mike Pompeo, supportive of the immoral and ineffective practice, Trump’s nominee for deputy director of the CIA, Gina Hapel, was actually involved personally in these horrific acts.
America is quickly losing its principles; its moral center. What gave me pride in my formative years is disappearing at an alarming rate.
This is what happens when white supremacy, sexism, Islamophopia, and homophobia become acceptable in a society. When what made our nation respected and admired around the world no longer exists; America ceases to exist. Our founding fathers created a unique society where the individual was equally as important as the multitude. Human rights for all was the cornerstone upon which the United States was built.
I was very proud when daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken by my elementary school class. But the words have no meaning under Trump’s rule. Our nation is not ‘indivisible,’ it is more divided than at any other time since the Civil War. ‘Liberty and justice for all’ is no longer the truth; they are enjoyed exclusively by the wealthy and powerful. Under Trump, the people are no longer served; we are ‘ruled.’ The opinions of the majority, which are diametrically opposed to Trump’s vile executive actions, are ignored, as Trump increases his despotic control over our government and our nation.
We know what we must do; take our country back. It belongs to us, and Trump should not be allowed to live here; he hates everything about what could make us a great nation.
