I could sit here all day and write stories about Republican politicians who commit immoral acts or utter ridiculous statements proving that they are white supremacists; suffer from Islamophobia or homophobia; support the war on women; or simply prove that they live in a world filled with hate.
First of all, because this article involves another fake-Christian politician, let me remind you that I am patriotic, and I believe that the first amendment is the most important guarantee of human rights ever conceived. Personally, I reject all organized religion. I do not need another man or women to offer instructions about how to live a life of spiritually; to live a life based on tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion. I view religions as cults.
That said, let me tell you about Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter. I was born in Idaho. Today, its singular claim to fame is the number of militias residing in the state which support white supremacy. Of course they also denounce Muslims, Hispanics, Jews, and the LGBT community.
Otter says that he “agrees with President Donald Trump that persecuted Christians should be treated as priority in the U.S. refugee program despite acknowledging that such preference is discriminatory.” The truth is that terrorists do not originate from the seven nations Trump banned. However 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 did come from Saudi Arabia, which is not banned; but Trump and his circle of sinners share investments with the Saudi royal family.
Damn; I wish Republicans would not have skipped all of their history classes. Christianity is the most violent and hypocritical religion in history. Hundreds of thousands have been killed in the name of Jesus Christ. But if they had actually read the bible, they would know that Jesus prohibits judgment, teaches that all mankind is loved by their god, and are to be treated with acceptance, understanding and compassion. Their god is believed to be a peaceful and not a violent deity.
When asked if Muslims were also persecuted, Otter said “Probably. I don’t know that, but I do know that the Christians are.”
This is an uninformed, and ignorant man. Has he not heard of the Christian religious right. They persecute every one who does not share their beliefs every day. They kill and maim nurses and doctors who legally perform abortions. They deny the rights of women to have an abortion, and they join in the condemnation of all other religions while attempting to repeal the first amendment, allowing Trump and his immoral party to institute a religion based on the fantasies of ancient pagan religions to be America’s national religion.
If you reject Trump’s belief that our nation is in turmoil, and that fear and hatred is the foundation on which our country exists today. Let him know. Then get out and actually do something about this travesty. Call your Congressman, and your Senators. Tell them that if they continue to support Trump and ignore the needs and desires of yourself, your family, and those you love, they will not receive your vote when they run for reelection; that’s the only thing they truly care about.
