If you read my rants frequently, you probably believe that I am a left wing extremist. That is not the truth. I am a true Independent, but I have a problem with today’s Republican Party. Throughout my 70 years, I have never witnessed the farce that calls itself the GOP today. There are very few ‘real’ Republicans in Washington.
Senator Susan Collins has served the citizens of Maine since 1997. Unlike many of her constituents, she has been a ‘working’ Senator. She is devoted to the principles of the party she represents, even in times when she stands nearly alone. She has never displayed a proclivity to seek her own ambitions as priority over the needs of the American people.
Senator Collins is one of few Republicans who are demanding an investigation into the relationship between Trump and Vladimir Putin. She is also open to the demands of the American people that Trump reveal his tax returns.
“My hope is that we’ll have a lot of voluntary cooperation,” Collins told Maine Public Radio on Wednesday. “And keep in mind that in some ways, this is a counterintelligence operation – in many ways – and that’s what our committee specializes in.”
She is speaking of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Senator Collins also stated that if hearings are held, former national security adviser Michael Flynn would be subpoenaed.
“The people have a right to know if their president is a crook. Well, I am not a crook. I’ve earned everything I’ve got.” — Richard Nixon
The people do have a right to know if their president is a crook. We know that Trump is a white supremacist, an Islamophobe, a homophobe, and a sexual predator. We also know that many of his previous business practices, and his “charity” are under investigation. His tax returns could reveal a myriad of facts about your illegitimate president.
As for his ties to Putin, there is no doubt that the two men have a close relationship. Many of Trump’s circle of sinners have connections to Russia. This is not a coincidence.
I believe that most Republicans must be removed from office; Susan Collins is the exception which proves the rule. She continues to place the people above her party. Sadly, this is rare among GOP politicians.
