Repealing ‘Obamacare’ is tantamount to murdering thousands of Americans; but Paul Ryan is not concerned about the future of the American people. His pitiful new plan is not accepted by anyone but Ryan. All three distinct factions of the GOP reject parts of his plan, and Democrats denounce the entire bill.

It took two years of planning and negotiations to write the Affordable Care Act; it is obvious that Republicans believed they could write an effective bill in a couple of months or less.

Republicans are excellent at destroying good legislation, but horrible at the creation of a law which would positively affect millions of Americans.

Here’s what should have been done; fix Obamacare. It’s problems were not irreparable, and its basics were sound.

Joseph Kennedy III, son of Congressman Joe, grandson of Senator Robert F., and grand-nephew of President John F. and Senator Edward M. Kennedy has this to say to Ryan.

“I was struck last night by a comment that I heard made by Speaker Ryan, where he called this repeal bill ‘an act of mercy.’ With all due respect to our speaker, he and I must have read different Scripture…The one I read calls on us to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to shelter the homeless, and to comfort the sick. It reminds us that we are judged not by how we treat the powerful, but by how we care for the least among us. There is no mercy in a system that makes health care a luxury. There is no mercy in a country that turns their back on those most in need of protection: the elderly, the poor, the sick, and the suffering. There is no mercy in a cold shoulder to the mentally ill. This is not an act of mercy. It is an act of malice.”

Ryan joined other Republicans with their failure to listen to the thousands of protesters who did not want Obamacare repealed, including many Republican voters.

I learned early in life that ‘if something isn’t broke, don’t fix it.’ Obamacare wasn’t broken; it was damaged. But Republicans do not know how to fix anything. Just like a contractor without talent, they would choose to tear a building down and replace it with something less grand.

Paul Ryan represents the worst of the Republican Party. The voters of Wisconsin should do the American people a favor in November of 2018 and vote him out of office.
