There was a time when I considered ‘drinking the Kool-Aid.’ I believed the claims of Republicans that Paul Ryan was intelligent, and the hope of the party. I joined everyone else and believing that he could take control of the House and rebuild it into a functioning body of legislators. Unlike Trump, when I’m wrong, I admit it. In many ways Ryan is worse for America than Donald J. Trump.
Ryan has proven himself to be just another ambitious politician, and one of the prime reasons the GOP must be re-labeled ‘the Party of Destruction.’ Ryan’s loyalty vacillates to anyone who will assist him with his personal goals, but never to the American people. He places his party first, and ignores the needs and wishes of the majority.
Ryan proved himself unable to govern; unable to lead with the enormous failure of ‘Trumpcare.’ Ryan was one of the leaders in the Party of Destruction who voted to repeal Obamacare 65 times, and failed to offer a replacement. This has been a personal vendetta against the legacy of President Obama.
Yesterday Ryan urged his fellow members of the Party of Destruction to continue their policies of repealing any and all advancements made for the American people in the previous 60 years. He rejected any efforts by his party to reach ‘bipartisanship.’ He denounced any involvement in government by Democrats. His fear is that what should have been done might become a reality; that Obamacare could be repaired and become a more effective form of healthcare for millions of Americans; and that this would be accomplished with input from the Democratic Party.
“U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the top Republican in Congress, said he does not want President Donald Trump to work with Democrats on new legislation for revamping the country’s health insurance system, commonly called Obamacare.”
Our government is broken, and Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are the architects who destroyed its ability to be a functional legislative body. Democracy cannot work without bipartisan effort. Deliberation and compromise result in effective government; without it, nothing positive happens.
Ryan will not tell you the truth; the right wing of the House will never be effective again. It is divided into three factions, and they have extremely different ideas about the direction our country should take in the future. Ryan has proven himself far less intelligent than I once believed when I considered tasting the Kool-Aid. He failed to understand the difficulties faced by his predecessor, John Boehner. I am no fan of the former Speaker; he was too weak to lead the ‘people’s house.’ However, in its present situation, the House is too divided to stand.
It is fair to label Ryan a traitor to the American people. He fails to consider ‘doing the right thing.’ Ryan refuses to act in support of the majority of the American people. Instead, he is concerned about elections and victories for his own party. Ryan is America’s biggest hypocrite.
For over eight years the Party of Destruction has failed to accomplish one thing which would have positively affected America. Instead it has harmed the American people and the future of our nation. Time for them to go, and let’s begin by denying Ryan his bid for reelection in November of 2018.
