Immediately after the strangest election in American history, political pundits began to explain how Trump won the Electoral College. Of course almost all of them were mistaken. I detailed the factors involved, and they were all from outside forces.
There is no doubt that Vladimir Putin interfered in our election process, and that Trump was aware of Russia’s efforts.
WikiLeaks played a smaller part by publicizing Democratic e-mails which offered an inaccurate image of Hillary and her party.
FBI Director James Comey’s announcement that he was reopening an investigation into Hillary’s use of private e-mail just eleven days before the election was critical. The following day the poll numbers changed.
Finally a factor none of the media has ever discussed contributed more than I believed possible; misogyny.
America remains the most backward nation in the world. Millions of our people are racist, Islamophobic, homophobic, and sexist. The results of the election also offered proof that the number of white supremacists is far larger than anyone would prefer to believe. Millions came out of the shadows to support the man who gave them a voice in mainstream politics.
However, I honestly did not expect misogyny to be a major factor.
The debates and the rhetoric at Trump’s rallies offered proof about his sexist attitude, but I was surprised that a large number of men and women continued to believe that a woman was not qualified to lead our nation.
The sad truth is that the male candidate was the least qualified offering for our nation’s highest office in history. Hillary was the most qualified candidate in history. While Trump has already proven that he will be remembered as the worst president in history, Hillary would have been one of the greatest. Her experience alone made her qualified. Add to that her diplomatic abilities, her above average intellect, and the strength of her convictions, America had an opportunity to follow dozens of other nations in the developed world and change the status quo. Men have caused enormous harm to our nation over the last 240 years. Congress has become supportive of business, the military, and the Christian religion; a female leader would have changed the environment and placed the American people as the top priority.
Thursday, on NBC, Hillary cited the same four reasons I formerly stated. She described her defeat as “devastating.”
Hillary then offered some insights into the Trump administration.
“I don’t understand the commitment to hurt so many people that this administration, this White House, seems to be pursuing,” Clinton said, pointing to the immigration ban, the slashing of U.S. funding for the UN Population Fund, and the failed health care bill.
“What they did or tried to do on the health care bill, which I will confess to this — having listened to them talking about repeal and replace for 8 years, or 7 years now, and they had not a clue what that meant,” she said. “They had no idea. I don’t know that any of them had ever even read the bill.”
This is what happens when a man whose resume is a blank sheet of paper is handed the keys to the asylum; the inmates are running amok.
