When any government official says something so stupid that they prove to all Americans that they are out of touch with reality, they must be put on a list of those in office who must be removed asap.
Republican Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama is one of those individuals. He is a member of the extreme right wing and traitorous ‘freedom caucus.’ He is a privileged and overpaid member of the House who has outrageous benefits and access to additional income when he supports the wishes of lobbyists. He believes that the House healthcare bill, Trumpcare, is fair. Those with preexisting conditions should pay more because they already have high blood pressure, diabetes, congenital heart problems, etc.
As Brooks told Tapper on CNN: “My understanding is that (the new proposal) will allow insurance companies to require people who have higher health care costs to contribute more to the insurance pool. That helps offset all these costs, thereby reducing the cost to those people who lead good lives, they’re healthy, they’ve done the things to keep their bodies healthy. And right now, those are the people — who’ve done things the right way — that are seeing their costs skyrocketing.”
131 million Americans have preexisting conditions. Is Brooks suggesting that 131 people fail to live good lives and are therefore a burden upon our government? Does he believe that those Americans who have ‘done things to keep their bodies healthy’ are superior to others, and will never experience a catastrophic medical condition?
My fellow Americans, this is your 21st century Republican Party; profit before people.
This horrific bill is opposed by most healthcare organizations. These groups said they were “disappointed,” “deeply disappointed” and “extremely disappointed” with legislation that is “unacceptable,” “shameful,” “harmful and irresponsible.” Their reactions immediately followed the 217-213 House vote.
The American Medical Association, AARP, the American Cancer Society, the American College of Physicians, the Main Street Alliance, which works with small business to obtain healthcare for their employees, Mental Healthcare America, and Planned Parenthood, all denounced this outrageous bill which was hastily put together and fails to address the needs of most Americans.
Physicians for Reproductive Health’s statement argued that the bill is a “targeted attack against reproductive health care” and that it takes away health care from millions of Americans, disproportionately affecting low-income women and women of color.
“It is appalling that the House would push forward legislation that offers no significant improvements to the bill that was rejected just last month,” said a statement from Dr. Diane Horvath-Cosper, the reproductive health advocacy fellow at the association. “I am terrified for my patients and for the health of this country.”
Are you in need of heal insurance? Are you afraid now? If not, you should be. Republicans are willing to commit the murder of thousands of Americans each year, while protecting the 70-year-old immoral man soiling the White House.
This is purely political. Intelligent and caring legislators would have worked to improve Obamacare instead of seeking its repeal. The only purpose for passing Trumpcare is an attempt to harm a real president’s legacy. It won’t work. What I hope they have accomplished is to have placed themselves on a list with the headline: “Don NOT Reelect.”
