Voters in Texas are ignorant. I can say this because it is obvious that they are the ‘redist’ state in the nation. They vote for a party, and that party does not represent the people of the United States. Texas has plagued us with two senators, John Cornyn, and Ted Cruz, who fight against every piece of legislation intended to improve the lives of all Americans. Texas was the first to pass voting laws intended to reduce or omit votes from minorities. It was the first to force the closing of abortion clinics in rural areas where the poorest Texans reside; intending to allow abortions for wealthier white residents only. Texas was also the first to attack Planned Parenthood, and reduce additional healthcare for low-income and impoverished Texans. Finally, Texas leads the nation in the executions of African Americans and Hispanics.
Now the Texas legislature is adding a new law, and although they are not the first, it is another unconstitutional effort aimed at a single group of Americans.
Once again using religion as a crutch, and a lie; Texas is allowing homophobes to deny the rights of the LGBTQ community.
Texas’ state government is ready to pass a law allowing adoption agencies to deny their services based upon their fallacious claim to be ‘Christian.’
“This would allow adoption agencies to turn away qualified, loving parents who are perhaps perfect in every way because the agency has a difference in religious belief,” said Catherine Oakley, senior legislative counsel for the Human Rights Campaign. “This goes against the best interest of the child.”
My first complaint is not about the constitutional rights of the LGBTQ community; it is about religious interference in a civil matter. I reject Republican inclusion of a single religion into our nation’s government. That said, limiting the rights of both the LGBTQ community, and children who deserve good homes is cruel and ignorant.
“As a governmental entity, Texas is bound to treat people equally under the law,” said Oakley. “This is a violation of equal protection under the law.”
The American people; true Americans who support the Constitution and the principles of our founding fathers; have an enemy; Washington D.C.
All three branches of government are in control of Republicans. Because they are all racists, homophobes, Islamophobes, and misogynists, they have chosen to represent the one-percent. They do not have concerns for the working class. Republicans constantly ignore the polls; which means they ignore the majority; and vote for legislation which positively affects the wealthiest of Americans, and ignores the needs of all Americans.
Once again, let me remind you that in November of 2018 all 435 seats in the House are up for reelection. If a candidate has an “R” next to his or her name, do not vote for them. These men and women are not true Republicans; most are extremists. Removing members of the TEA Party and the Freedom Caucus is patriotic, and will make our government functional once again.
