Four months into Trump’s illegitimate presidency it is evident to everyone, with the exception of those who choose to ignore the truth, that Donald Trump is the greatest mistake by the voting public in history. He is not only immoral, he is incapable of governing our nation. The American people must focus on two goals. We must find a way to remove Trump, Pence, and others from office asap. Secondly, the American people must become more informed and prevent the election of a ‘future Trump.’

I am an independent. I consider myself a progressive, not in the political sense, but in my beliefs of morality and social change. I am an American who is aware that our nation must join the majority of developed nations and place our nation’s people ahead of material goals. We must celebrate our nation’s diversity, and accept and understand those who are different from ourselves.

The fact that millennials are now America’s largest demographic must be encouraging for baby boomers such as myself who have been disappointed by the ignorance of their own demographic. That said, I believe that the only way to create greatness in our country begins at the local level. Younger Americans must understand that politics is a reality, and change for the betterment of the American people can only be achieved by becoming an activist.

I strongly encourage all true Americans, especially those under 40 years of age, to consider running for office. Whether you choose to run for your own city council, or for a seat in the United States House of Representatives, you can help our nation progress and flourish in the future.

There is no place in American society for the negative beliefs of Trump and his supporters. White supremacy, misogyny, Islamophobia, and homophobia should be nothing more than a bad memory of a society misguided by prejudice. Younger Americans can be the catalysts who remove evil from our society.

At 70 years of age, I have witnessed change, and I celebrated every positive movement which resulted in the improvement of my country. We cannot allow one perverse administration to move our nation backwards to the depravity of a country dominated by racial, social, and religious bigotry.

Do not believe that a single person cannot make a difference. President Obama began his political career as a social activist in Chicago. His meteoric rise to become our nation’s 44^th President was because of the fact that his focus; his purpose; never varied. He believed in the American people, and attempted to move our nation into greatness. You can be another Obama.

I am focusing this article on younger Americans. They are the future, and we need them more than ever today. “Tomorrow becomes today with the blink of an eye.” This is your country, and your future; seize it; embrace it.
