Republicans have proven themselves to be the party of hypocrisy. I know, I’ve been saying this for months, but I have because it’s true. Although many GOP politicians joined the “anybody but Trump” club during the campaign, they now support his unconstitutional and immoral actions as their illegitimate president.
Sam Brownback is the Governor of Kansas. His fiscal policies created huge budgetary shortcomings in the state; proving that he is a failed administrator. Taxes had to be raised to counteract a growing fiscal problem, and possible disaster.
Republicans in the state legislature defied their failed leader and voted to do just that. They voted to override Brownback’s veto of a $1.2 billion tax increase over two years. Moderates in the GOP dominated legislature were given the credit for defeating more extreme Republicans in an attempt to stabilize the state’s economy.
Brownback had eliminated one of the states three tax brackets. This legislation will restore the third which will require the state’s wealthiest citizens to pay 4.6 to 5.2 percent this year, and 5.7 percent next year. Taxpayers with less affluent incomes; $30,000 to $60,000 will see an increase from 4.6 percent to 5.25 percent by next year. Lower incomes will be increased from 2.7 to 3.1 percent.
Common sense has returned to one red state. If only the incompetent Republicans in Washington would think for themselves and represent their constituents. Trump’s two most recent proposals; Trumpcare and his budget; are horrific, and Republican legislators understand the truth. They just refuse to do anything about it. Trump’s agreement with Saudi Arabia to sell them billions of dollars in military weapons would cause additional problems in the Middle East.
Is there a single intelligent GOP politician who will stand up to the playground bully?
Republicans have declared war on the working class, low income Americans, and families living in poverty. If they want a war; let’s give them one, and let’s do in in November of 2018 at the polls. Take back your country. Republicans in Washington do not have the courage of Republicans in Kansas.
Please re-post; thank you.
