The decision about Trumpcare in the senate will affect all Americans. Tens of millions of Americans desperately need adequate healthcare. The decision by Republicans will also affect one-sixth of our nation’s economy.

In the senate there are 52 Republicans, 46 Democrats, and 2 Independents who frequently vote with Democrats. The decision on Trumpcare will be decided by Republicans; all 48 of the other members are opposed to the bill which was written behind closed doors. Thirteen Republican men; no Democrats or women; decided what the bill would contain. There were no committee meetings, and no deliberation on the floor of the senate. This was the least democratic and most partisan action ever attempted in the senate.

Trumpcare is nothing but a disaster. It would cover fewer Americans, eliminate coverage for many conditions, be more costly, and reduce Medicaid coverage for millions. However, it would accomplish Trump and McConnell’s real goal; to give Trump and the one-percent additional tax breaks.

This is the Republican Party’s last chance to try and save the 2018 midterm election. When they vote on Thursday, the American people will learn which Republican senators serve the American people and those who will continue to serve Trump’s vile and destructive agenda.

At the end of last week five Republican senators stated that they will not support the bill. Four are right wing extremists who want even more cuts, and one moderate

The moderate is Dean Heller who is up for reelection in Nevada in November of 2018. Nevadans are overwhelmingly opposed to both the House and Senate versions of Trumpcare.

Republican senators are playing ‘Russian Roulette’ with their vote. Their decisions will not go unnoticed by voters.
