A Trump presidency has accomplished one thing; it has allowed ignorance by choice to become acceptable. The dregs of America have come forward to express and act upon their distorted views of American life. Under President Obama, our nation achieved a new level of understanding, tolerance, and compassion. This was patriotism at its highest level. Today those qualities have been reversed, and hate, prejudice, and offering judgment of our fellow citizens has become the norm. This is the ‘Trump Effect.’

When Trump spoke at his rallies, he encouraged racism, bigotry, hatred and violence. His supporters chose to be ignorant and celebrate their distorted views of what America should be, based upon Trump’s own deplorable beliefs. White supremacists, Islamophobes, homophobes, misogynists, and others who refuse to educate themselves or accept facts, have a leader in Washington, and America is the worse for it.

Every American has been touched by someone who has an addiction. Whether those drugs are illegal or prescribed by a doctor, these individuals have a serious problem, and they need long-term rehabilitation. This is a large part of the many reasons why all Americans should have the right to adequate healthcare. Our tax dollars should be used for enhancing the quality of life for our people, and not to build more war machines which will gather dust in warehouses.

In Middletown, Ohio, one city councilman believes that Trump is right. Medical care for those who have long-term problems with addiction should be allowed to die. Money should not be wasted on attempts to save the lives of repeated drug offenders.

Ohio has a huge problem with opioid addiction. Across the nation, doctors were eager to prescribe these drugs to relieve both acute and chronic pain. They have caused this epidemic, and it is a growing problem.

Councilman Dan Picard believes that “people who overdose should be forced to do community service to make up for the cost of an emergency run.”

Picard went much further, and displayed a complete lack of understanding and compassion for those with a problem for which they are not responsible. He believes that “if they overdose a third time, no medics should respond.”

Under Trump’s illegitimate presidency, our nation is losing its very soul. I will be 71 years old this week. I grew up in a nation filled with men and women who offered kindness, love and understanding to their friends and neighbors. We shared each others joy and pain. It was called the ‘right thing to do,’ and it was ‘American.’

Trump is intentionally destroying my America. His dark and dismal view of our nation’s future is not acceptable. His efforts to tear-up the Constitution, and rule, not serve, the American people cannot be tolerated. Trump is the ‘anti-Obama.’ America is suffering from the actions of the worst president in history, after eight years of one of the greatest presidents in our nation’s 241 years.

America will cease to exist if Trump is allowed to defile the White House for four years. Let’s find a new white house for him; one he truly needs. America has many respected mental institutions which will accept and treat Donald J. Trump.
