This is what happens when ignorant voters support an ignorant and unqualified candidate. The sum of these two evils is Donald Trump. “There’s no cure for stupid.”
Although most of Trump’s supporters are unaware, the 4th of July is actually America’s “Independence Day.” To continue a tradition, which began 29 years ago, NPR broadcast the ‘Declaration of Independence’ word for word. This time they offered it to twitter users in 113 consecutive posts of 140 characters. Trump’s twitter followers cried ‘foul;’ they claimed that it was ‘spam,’ and an effort to criticize Donald Trump. Wow; no one could make this s**t up.
When the section of our nation’s precious document which listed in detail the wrongs committed against the colonists by King George III, Trump’s supporters went ‘ape s**t.’
“He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers,” read one line of the document.
Naturally the uninformed and ignorant assumed that this was a direct reference to Trump’s attack on federal judges after they denied his Muslim ban.
“Propaganda is that all you know how? Try supporting a man who wants to do something about the Injustice in this country #drainingtheswamp,” tweeted one user whose account has since been deleted but whose messages were captured by Winnipeg Free Press reporter Melissa Martin.
Another line which encouraged the rage of Trump’s “basket of deplorables,” was: “A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of free people.”
Well, I can understand why this upset his brainwashed followers; this is a perfect description of Trump who thinks that he is a king, and not merely a public servant.
“This year we mirrored that tradition on Twitter as a way to extend to social media what we do on the air,” Isabel Lara, and NPR spokeswoman wrote. “The tweets were shared by thousands of people and generated a lively conversation.”
If you are interested, the entire text is available on the attached link. If you are a natural born citizen, and not a ‘naturalized’ citizen, it is unlikely that you have ever read the document in its entirety. It’s a beautiful thing!
