There are very few real Republicans in Washington today. Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz, John Cornyn, and dozens more who claim to be members of the GOP, are in fact ‘Republicans in name only.’ Go back more than 20 years ago and look at the Grand Old Party which was principled and believed in deliberation and compromise to establish good government. None of these men and women would support such an immoral and unqualified man as Donald Trump.

On Tuesday evening, co-host of “Morning Joe,” a daily broadcast on MSNBC, appeared with his co-host and fiance, Mika Brzezinski, on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert.” During the broadcast, Scarborough, a lifelong Republican and one-time member of the House of Representatives, announced that he would be leaving his party. He said that he can no longer be a member of a party which is unprincipled and has lost its way in Washington. They have become extremists and obstructionists who place their party’s success ahead of the people of the United States of America. He will be an Independent He denounced Trump and his crimes and lack of morality. This morning on his own broadcast he explained his decision by stating that today’s Republicans in name only are “kowtowing to somebody who — inexplicably — shows them no loyalty whatsoever.”

Mr. Scarborough is not wrong. Trump demands loyalty, but offers nothing in return. His only agenda is to keep the campaign promises he made to his basket of deplorables; and his hasty efforts should be embarrassing to Lyin Ryan and McConnell; but they have lost all dignity and the respect of the American people.

Trump’s agenda is based on his personal beliefs in white nationalism, and his intention to increase his personal wealth with the use of his position as America’s illegitimate president.

In their support for their failed leader, Republicans are ignoring the will of the people. They are not representing those who elected them, they are ruling over them. For example; Trumpcare has an approval rating of 12 percent, but these failed politicians continue to seek passage of the worst healthcare bill ever to be presented to the American people.

How long can we allow one hypocritical party to attempt the complete destruction of democracy in our nation?

Our country is now under the control of one party; a party which has its own agenda, and that agenda is not to serve all 320 million Americans. They are serving 585 billionaires, including Trump, and 10.7 million, millionaires; less than 10 percent of our nation’s people.
