Mitch McConnell has scheduled a vote to ‘repeal and replace’ Obamacare on Tuesday? Or has he? Of course Democrats are completely in the dark about what is going on in the Senate; McConnell wants it that way. But Republicans don’t know either. Will they actually be voting on Trumpcare; will the vote be to repeal Obamacare only; or will it be something completely different?
The CBO scored Trumpcare last Thursday, and stated that under the Republican bill, 22 million Americans will lose their healthcare and possibly their lives. A straight repeal would cost 32 million Americans to lose their health insurance.
When our founding fathers designed our system of government, they selected a ‘democratic republic.’ Instead of a literal form of democracy, where every citizen votes for every issue and every candidate, They decided that the people would elect men who would represent their needs and wishes in Philadelphia, and now in Washington. They were as aware then, as we are now, that this type of government is only effective when deliberation and compromise are conducted with all of the governing body engaging in the process.
And that’s why our government is broken. Lyin Paul Ryan and Mitch ‘the traitor’ McConnell are operating in a purely partisan manner. Only Republicans are allowed in the process. This is why Washington became a ‘swamp’ and why under Trump and his hypocritical party a new and larger cesspool has grown inside of the Capitol.
Republicans are not able to govern effectively. Their support of special interests prevents them from participating in discussions with those from the left side of the aisle. No ‘one’ party has all of the answers, and when ideas are exchanged, good legislation is the eventual result. Good legislation cannot be rushed. McConnell is following Ryan’s lead and attempting to rush through a 40 page healthcare law. Obama care required 11 months and 2,500 pages.
The working class suffers under Republicans. Now that they have control of two branches of government, we are in great peril. The GOP is the ‘party of the rich,’ and that’s not good for us and not good for America’s future.
Healthcare has proven to be the defining issue for Republicans. It will fail the American people if it passes, and if it fails to pass, it will prove that the GOP is a complete failure in its attempts to govern; it does not represent the majority of the American people. For Republican politicians, it is a ‘fail, fail’ situation.
Obamacare needed revisions, but as most of Americans now know, it was a damn good start.
Please re-post; thank you.
