All of Trump’s biggest problems are self-inflicted. His inexperience and weak temperament have resulted in failures and not a single accomplishment in more than six months. Trump is now taking steps to alienate his own party; a party that has supported his destructive agenda. However, now that his attacks have become personal, the rumblings of a revolution can be heard in the Capitol.
Trump’s thinly disguised efforts to force Attorney General Jeff Sessions to offer his resignation are creating an uproar in the senate. Trump has tweeted numerous attacks against his AG, and so far has refused to fire him.
Sessions is receiving bipartisan support from his former constituents in the senate. Lindsey Graham spoke for his fellow legislators. He said that Trump “belittling and humiliating the attorney general” was “unseemly” and “inappropriate.”
Let me be truthful here. Sessions should never have been confirmed as the Attorney General. Our nation’s people deserve an intelligent and unbiased man or woman as their top law enforcement officer. Sessions is undoubtedly a white supremacist. His career is filled with racist words and actions.
However, this situation is not about Sessions’ lack of qualifications to have his position; this is about an illegitimate president who demands unbridled loyalty, but offers none in return. This is about a mentally deranged man who has been allowed to destroy America piece by piece.
Sessions is not the only member of Trump’s party under siege from this unfit president. Lisa Murkowski, Republican Senator from Alaska, has been attacked by Trump for joining with Susan Collins in voting against the ‘measure to continue discussion about the Senate form of Trumpcare.’ Trump tweeted that Murkowski “really let Republicans, and our country, down.” Senator Murkowski stated the simple fact which preempts a ‘party first’ decision.
“Quite honestly, I don’t think it’s wise to be operating on a daily basis thinking about what, a statement or a response, that causes you to be fearful of your electoral prospects,” she said. “We’re here to govern. We’re here to legislate. We’re here to represent the people that sent us here.”
Anyone who disagrees with Trump is immediately attacked; usually with a mean-spirited tweet storm. Trump’s weak mental state forces him to respond to even the most minor of criticisms.
How will this egomaniac respond if every desperate effort by McConnell to pass Trumpcare fails? Of course he will place the blame on Democrats, although they have not been allowed to participate in the formation of this disreputable bill at any level. It is Trump and his party; a party which has proven itself unable to govern who must accept responsibility for a failure to take the time and proper steps to pass effective legislation which would serve and not harm millions of Americans.
The end result, if Obamacare remains in force is ‘the American people “1,” Trump “0.”
