The media is praising John McCain for the defeat of Trumpcare, saving Obamacare, and the failure of the ‘skinny repeal.’ Although I commend him for doing the right thing, it is the Republican women in the Senate who must be praised for their consistent efforts to save healthcare for millions of Americans.
Only men were allowed behind the closed doors where the senate version of Trumpcare was composed. McConnell, ever the misogynist, had no interest in their input. Therefore, it was fitting that Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski led to fight to defeat the poorly constructed bill. McConnell was so desperate to serve his fuhrer that Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was ushered in to threaten Murkowski with harm to Alaska’s energy industry if she refused to vote in favor of the bill. Murkowsky of course ignored this illegal threat, and voted for the people of her state.
Collins, who serves the people of Maine, is the only Republican senator to have voted against every measure related to Trumpcare.
Although the results of the election last November surprised and disappointed me, I nevertheless stick by my claim that it will be women who lead our country forward in the 21st century. I continue to believe that a woman will be nominated by Democrats in 2020, and that she will win easily. It is also very possible that a woman will be nominated by Republicans as well.
Women are focused on families and human rights, education, equality if the workplace, and universal healthcare; they will be at the forefront of their platforms. Democrats have young and powerful women who have the talent and experience to lead America forward. Of course I would support Elizabeth Warren, but I doubt that she will choose to run. I would also support senators Kirsten Gillibrand or Kamala Harris; or both of them on the same ticket.
Republicans have one standout who is now our country’s delegate to the United Nations, Nikki Haley. She was an excellent governor in South Carolina, and is now learning about the international stage.
It goes without saying that any of these four women would be doing a far better job than the buffoon we now have defiling the White House.
Please re-post; thank you.
