It has become obvious to all clear thinking people that one of the requirements for employment in the Trump administration is the ability to lie with a straight face. This fact became evident when Kellyanne Conway was hired in August of 2016 as Trump’s “campaign manager.” From her first appearance on television, she offered proof to the world that her true purpose was as Trump’s personal spin doctor. Every time Trump opened his mouth we knew it was a lie, and he added to his list of fallacious messages with multiple tweets.
During the campaign Mike Pence and others followed Conway’s despicable efforts to save Trump’s image. After the election Trump added Sean Spicer to his staff of paid liars. He wasn’t very good at it, and the late night comics and Saturday Night Live were given a gift which kept on giving.
It is exhausting to appear before the press and constantly offer ‘alternative facts.’ So Trump added Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Stephen Miller to replace a failing and obviously exhausted Spicer.
Sanders’ lies are so outrageous that she often leaves journalists speechless. Recently she made two claims which never happened. Sanders claimed that Trump received a phone call from the Director of the Boy Scouts and from President Nieto of Mexico. She claimed that both men praised the president. Not true. The fact is that the Director of the Boy Scouts offered an apology to the Scouts, their parents, and the nation for the disgusting and embarrassing political speech offered to the attendees of the Jamboree in West Virginia. As for Nieto, he has not spoken with Trump for months. But Sanders wouldn’t give up on her lie.
“I wouldn’t say it was a lie. That’s a pretty bold accusation,” she told reporters. “The conversations took place, they just simply didn’t take place over a phone call. … He had them in person.” Really?
When it was revealed that Trump Sr. dictated Junior’s initial response about the Trump Tower meeting with five Russian agents, this was Sanders’ spin on the truth.
Trump had “weighed in” on his son’s statement “as any father would based on the limited information that he had.” Junior is 39 years old.
Stephen Miller is a supporter of Breitbart and a close friend of Steve Bannon. Miller frequently voices the beliefs of the ‘Alt-Right. Yesterday he defended Trump’s plan to reshape our nation’s immigration policy; a plan which is blatantly racist.
During yesterday’s press briefing, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked Miller if this was indeed a race related policy. Miller said he was outraged and demeaned Mr. Acosta’s intellect.
But it didn’t end there. Acosta asked a straight forward question which offered Miller an opportunity to misdirect the facts.
Acosta: “What the president is proposing here does not sound like it’s in keeping with American tradition when it comes to immigration,” the network reporter said to Miller. “The Statue of Liberty says, ‘Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.’”
Miller: “I don’t want to get off into a whole thing about history here, but the Statue of Liberty is a symbol of liberty and lighting the world. It’s a symbol of American liberty lighting the world. The poem that you’re referring to, that was added later, is not actually a part of the original Statue of Liberty.”
Trump’s proposal would require all immigrants to speak fluent English, have an income which allows them to be self-supporting, and have skills which would help America’s fiscal future.
Would you accept a paycheck as a ‘professional liar?’ Only unprincipled men and women who lack dignity and self-respect would accept such a disgusting position to protect such an immoral man.
