Trump’s historically low approval rating of just 33 percent is the result of his own vile and immoral actions and words. The Republican Party is suffering from the idiocy of the worst president in American history. In recent polls, which asked about the many issues facing our nation, Democrats polled higher than Republicans in nearly every significant area.
Republicans lack leadership, and those who claim to lead the party have failed miserably as they attempt to defend the party’s leader. That effort is not only becoming less effective, it is nearing impossibility.
The anger of the American people about Trump’s refusal to denounce domestic terrorists, who call themselves white nationalists, has resulted in heated exchanges between the media and right wing politicians.
None was more explosive than a discussion on CNN between a former Attorney General of Virginia, and a network political commentator.
Symone Sanders, worked as national press secretary for Bernie Sanders during his presidential campaign. She accused Ken Cuccinelli of not speaking “to the heart” of what happened in Charlottesville when white supremacists descended for a “Unite the Right” rally.
“Can I finish, Symone?” asked Cuccinelli at one point during the “New Day” debate. “Will you just shut up for a minute and let me finish?”
Anchor Chris Cuomo was quick to jump in, saying, “Ken, you don’t want to use language like that when you’re talking to Symone. You can disagree, but you don’t talk like that on this show. You know better.”
Incidents such as this appeared on many national and local television broadcasts on Sunday. Trump’s refusal to address the truth that white supremacists intentionally incite anger and violence by attacking American values and the Constitution is unforgivable. Furthermore, he must call them what the are, ‘domestic terrorists.’
However, I was not surprised. Trump’s strongest support comes from the far right; the very fringes of society. He has accepted the endorsement of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups. Trump has proven that he believes in white nationalism along with Steve Bannon, Jeff Sessions, and others in his circle of sinners.
