Trump’s statement in support of white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the KKK yesterday was no surprise; at least to me. He has surrounded himself with members of hate groups since November 9, 2016. Steve Bannon is a member of the Alt-Right; Jeff Sessions has a hooded sheet in his closet; Stephen Miller is a supporter of Breitbart; and Sebastian Gorka has a history of ties to a Nazi organization.

Gorka’s position is virtually unknown. He has the title of Deputy Assistant to the president, but his actions are those of a communications director.

By May of this year, some members of congress wanted him fired. Gorka has been linked to a Nazi-allied group in Hungary. “As members of the U.S. Congress who care deeply about fighting anti-Semitism at home and abroad, we urge you to immediately dismiss senior White House counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka,” a group of 55 Congresspeople wrote in a letter to President Trump. “Based on recent revelations about Mr. Gorka’s public support for and membership in several anti-Semitic and racist groups in Hungary, he is clearly unfit to serve in any position of responsibility in your administration.”

It was no surprise that Trump ignored them. Gorka has defended Trump this last week, and at least for now his position is secure.

It was no surprise that Gorka refused to denounce the events in Charlottesville. If he were able I’m certain that he would have ‘goose-stepped’ along with those carrying flags with swastikas.

Yesterday all of America understood why Trump has chosen such an unqualified and odd group of advisers. He is, himself, a supporter of white supremacy.

All true Americans would place as much distance between themselves and Gorka as possible; but not Trump. Gorka’s views and ideas are aligned with his boss. Our government is in the control of fascists and the ‘Stepford Family.’ These arrogant and incompetent individuals are destroying my America.
