Denial is the ultimate form of ignorance. Therefore, we have in America an entire political party and its leader proving that they are some of the most ignorant men and women in the world because they have chosen denial over fact in support of their wealthy owners.

With the exception of two other nations, Honduras and Syria, the world believes that we have a moron in control of our nation. By refusing to support the Paris accord, Trump offered proof that he is a fool. I have a few words for Donny Boy; science is real and climate change is real, and only an idiot would deny these incontrovertible facts.

Trump is demanding cuts in climate change research; research which could help us understand how the devastation which is affecting Texas could have occurred. The wrath of Hurricane Harvey continues, and is now on a path to affect New Orleans.

“It doesn’t matter if you believe, or not, humans are the cause of climate change … what [the Trump administration] cannot really deny is the data,” Astrid Caldas, the senior climate scientist with the Union of Concerned Scientists, said in an interview. “All the things these agencies measure are behind all the progress we have made in terms of preparedness for these extreme events.”

In Houston, the damage is from unending rainfall. The moisture in Hurricane Harvey is un-precidented. Now downgraded to a ‘tropical storm,’ the rainfall from Harvey is expected to last through the week. The residents of many on Texas’ coastline will experience a year’s accumulation of rain in just a few days.

Scientists are not claiming that Harvey is a result of climate change caused by man; at least not yet. But the study of what caused massive flooding, especially in Houston, will reveal answers about what could occur in the future.

Science is fact; denial is ignorance by choice. Republicans choose ignorance in support of big businesses who are the largest polluters of our environment. Trump has already issued executive orders to allow manufacturing plants to dump their foul wast into our water supply. He appointed a director of the EPA whose only goal is to weaken and eliminate the agency. Millions of people revealed their own form of ignorance on November 8, 2016 when they voted for the worst president in history.

Trump’s refusal to learn his job and to support the advances made in our nation in more than 60 years make him unacceptable as our nation’s leader. Time to go, Donny Boy.
