As of November 30, 2017, 5 senators are in their 80s, 18 are in their 70s, 32 are in their 60s, 30 are in their 50s, 14 are in their 40s, and 1 is in his 30s. What does this mean to America?

The median age today, November 30, 2017, in America is 37.8 years of age. Only fifteen Senators are able to relate to one-half of the American people. If we add those in their 50’s, who have experience and likely understand more of the needs and wants of most Americans, that raises the number to 45.

Without appraising the 435 members of the House, this confirms that at least 55 members of the Senate are completely out of touch with America. This is definitive evidence why our nation must require term limits for congress.

Orrin Hatch has made a complete fool of himself in the last couple of weeks. He is 83 years old; far to aged to make decisions in our government. He is likely senile and possibly suffering from some degree of dementia. He has been in office since 1976. The truth is that 41 years in office is a disgrace. It is not anything to be proud of. If you are a professional politician, you have less credibility than a used car salesman.

Trump is the oldest man to ever have been given the election by the outdated and failed Electoral College. He has proven that he will be remembered as the worst illegitimate president in the history of America.

Trump and I are three weeks apart in age. I would never expect the American people to believe that I could lead this nation. Mentally I believe that I am without a doubt capable, but I no longer have the energy or desire to lead the fight for all of my nation’s people. Trump does not represent 99 percent of our nation’s people.

Our nation cannot move forward as long as old, white, Christian only men control our nation.

The old men in our government are attempting to lead our nation into the past. The past represents a time when women were expected to be subservient to men. Minorities “knew their place.” If our president said something, we were expected to believe him. Loyalty to our government, without questioning its veracity or its intent to care for the majority of Americans was never a consideration. Minorities were tolerated, but they were not allowed to interact with whites. Christians dominated our society and denied the rights of men and women of other faiths including Judaism, Islam, Buddhists, Sikhs, and others to practice their own beliefs as guaranteed by the Constitution. This is your Republican Party today.

If America is to continue to evolve as our founding fathers hoped, we need younger Americans to become involved in the future of our nation. Thomas Jefferson was 33 years old in 1776. George Washington was 44. James Madison was 25. This is the kind of energy and idealism our nation needs if it is to survive in the 21^st century.

Old, white men have harmed our nation for more than 200 years. We will not survive for the next three-plus years if Trump remains in office. The nation of our founding fathers will perish.
