No this is not a story about Trump in an orange jumpsuit; although that would be wonderful. This is about how a fake-Christian’s judgmental ways were quashed by federal law and may now be out of a job.
Kim Davis is the County Clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky. In 2015 she was in the news because she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, based on her “Christian beliefs.” Davis was eventually forced to comply with federal law. The hilarious part of the story is presidential wannabees Ted Cruz and and Mike Huckabee recognized a photo-op, and a chance to spread their fake religious beliefs. They rushed to Kentucky to support the bigoted woman. Once again, those who do not follow the teachings of Jesus Christ cannot call themselves Christians.
Now for the fun part of the story. Davis is up for reelection. Her challenger is David Ermold. Mr. Ermold is an assistant English professor at the University of Pikeville. He is also a gay man who was one of the individuals denied a marriage license by Davis; twice!
This is what Mr. Ermold had to say about his candidacy.
“It’s official. I’m in! I am proud to announce my entrance into the race for Rowan County Clerk! I am running to restore the people’s confidence in our clerk’s office and because I believe that the leaders of our community should put the needs of their constituents first and should be an example of integrity and fairness. Please visit my campaign website at www.davidermold.com where you can learn how to support our mission.”
In 2015 he made this statement.
“This is how gay people are treated in this country, this is what it’s like, this is their experience, this is how it feels,” Ermold said in an emotional statement after he was denied a license for a second time in 2015.
Homophobia is an illness. It is nothing more than a case of serious ignorance. Using fake-Christian beliefs to deny the Constitutional rights of Americans is a sin. Evangelicals are doing similar things in Alabama; supporting a child molester and criminal for the United States Senate.
The people of Alabama and individuals such as Kim Davis are an embarrassment for true Christians. Men and women who believe in the mandates of Jesus Christ, and the true golden rule are not represented by the Kim Davis’s of our nation. The entire quote was first seen in a Methodist Church, but its origin is unconfirmed.
“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”
It was shortened and one admonition was added.
“Do all the good you can; but if you cannot, do no harm.”
People such as Davis, Huckabee, and Cruz use religion for their own purposes. They are not true believers, and should not receive our attention.
Please re-post; thank you.
