I reported part of this story a couple of weeks ago. More details have now been revealed about the disgusting debauchery of a Texas Republican Representative, Blake Farenthold.
Michael Rekola was Farenthold’s communications director in 2015 and has come forward to reveal the work environment in Farenthold’s office.
Before I get into some of the details of this man’s perversion, let me remind you why this story reached the public eye. Farenthold used a secret treasury fund to silence a woman’s charges of sexual harassment. She received $84,000 of taxpayer money. This made me ask the question ‘how many other secret funds does congress have?’ Just more proof that we cannot trust our government.
Speaking before the Ethics Committee, Rekola told tales of Farenthold’s constant verbal abuse and sexually graphic humor. He says that he was eventually forced to seek medical care for both physical and psychological damage. During one period of time he vomited on a daily basis.
In 2015, as Rekola was preparing to leave for his wedding. Farenthold made crude remarks which were demeaning to his bride to be.
“Better have your fiancée blow you before she walks down the aisle — it will be the last time.” He then proceeded to joke about whether Rekola’s now-wife could wear white on her wedding day — a clear reference, Rekola said, to whether she had had premarital sex.
Rekola said he walked out, and when he returned to work he immediately gave his two week’s notice.
Rekola worked for Farenthold for nine months, during which time not only did he witness continual sexual harassment, fits of rage were commonplace. He would pound on desks and scream at Rekola and the congressman’s aides, calling them “f**ktards.”
There are 435 members of the House; 240 Republicans and 194 Democrats. I wonder how many others are abusive to their staff, and how many others have used “slush funds” to protect their tawdry existence.
Congress’ approval rating is at 13 percent. After reading about some of the inside events in Washington, I believe that is way too high; it should be less than zero.
I have no faith in our current government. If judged by their performance relating to the majority of the American people, they are complete failures.
Please re-post; thank you.
