Because Trump does something deplorable and anti-American every day, little or no attention is being paid to the most serious problems facing millions of Americans today.

DACA should not be a serious problem, however it is. Nearly 700,000 young men and women who arrived illegally as small children, are in danger of deportation. America is the only country they know, and they have contributed to our society. However, Trump is not concerned; they are not Caucasians; European whites.

This is one example of the ‘Trump Effect.’

More than 49 million Americans live below the poverty level. Consider the fact that America has four percent of the world’s population, but has the largest number of billionaires and millionaires. 585 men and women have become super-rich. This is all a result of the privilege of living in America. The nation closest to the United States in having individuals with enormous wealth is China with 277 billionaires. We also have 10.7 million, millionaires. To have one man or woman living in poverty is a shame and an embarrassment to true Americans. The word is ‘plutocracy.’

Trapping and plotting to deport undocumented workers who have no criminal history is deplorable. ICE is treating them without respect. They are suffering inhumane and even cruel treatment, simply for wanting a better life for themselves and their families.

Under a compassionate president, Barrack Obama, a large group of Somali refugees were allowed to come into the United States to escape genocide. Trump has decided that they are black and therefore undeserving of our country’s protection.

Recently 92 detainees who were being deported back to Somalia alleged they were “kept shackled, hungry, and deprived of restroom access for nearly two days aboard an ICE airplane ride from hell.”

This is the Trump Effect; white supremacy, and extreme cruelty have replaced American values and compassion for those less fortunate than we are.

I am ashamed of my country; it’s not the same nation I was proud to grow up in. This is Trump and Bannon’s America, and I reject it.
