We now know that the primary reason Trump won the Electoral College was due to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Using social media attacks against Hillary Clinton, and praise for Trump changed voters minds and resulted in millions of voters abstaining from casting their ballots.
However, exit polls revealed that some Americans refused to vote for Hillary because she was a woman.
The focus of America today is on sexual harassment and sexual assault. From Washington to Hollywood powerful men have been accused of unacceptable actions against women.
Women first entered the workforce in large numbers over 100 years ago during WWI. The largest number of women who ceased to be “stay-at-home moms” and enter the workplace was during the decade between 1960 and 1970. For over 100 years women have been forced, and expected to accept, sexual harassment from their male counterparts and their supervisors.
Doubters such as Trump and Roy Moore, ask why so many women waited for so many years to make their claims? The answer is twofold and universal. Embarrassment is one reason. Being treated as an object and not as a human being is emotionally damaging; it is assault in its own right. The second is obvious; fear of retribution. Most of these women needed their jobs. Many were single mothers.
Therefore, men were allowed to ‘get away’ with their actions for more than 100 years. Things are changing and changing rapidly. The “MeToo” movement is growing. In addition, women now control America’s wealth. They are rejecting marriage and children for a career. Women are quickly becoming executives and even CEO’s in major corporations. Statistics reveal that more women than men are now enrolled in our colleges and universities.
Our nation should have had its first woman president in 2016; but we will, and soon. I predict that after the Trump debacle, all of America will realize that we need a woman in the White House. His sexist attitude and support of white supremacy will encourage voters to elect a woman in 2020. My personal preference includes both a president and vice-president. I would support Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Kamala Harris. These are two strong, intelligent, and experienced women who could save our nation and change the “good old boy” attitude in Washington.
I can dream; and sometimes dreams become a reality.
Please re-post; thank you.
