Once a Respected Senator, Orrin Hatch is no more than a Useless Old Man who Lies for Donald Trump

Hatch

Orrin Hatch is the senior senator from Utah. He is 83 years old and has outlived his usefulness. He has become a failed politician and is no longer a public servant. He had a close friend in the senate who passed away; Ted Kennedy. In 1996 they co-authored the Children’s Health Insurance Plan, CHIP. It has been renewed in a bipartisan manner for the last 20 years. Nine million children of low-income families are protected. Their parents make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to pay for healthcare at their place of employment. Hatch told the press that “we don’t have the money to pay for it.” But he has found a way to give large corporations and the one-percent additional tax breaks.

Republicans are desperate to pass what they call tax reform. As of a few days ago, they did not have the votes. They have only 51 senators, and if they lose two, it will fail. Two senators who were on the ‘no’ side of the bill, Bob Corker, and Marco Rubio, have moved to the ‘yes’ side.

Rubio stated that he would not vote for the bill if the child care credit was not raised. Now let’s be perfectly clear. This credit will mostly affect upper middle income Americans and above. It will do nothing for the middle class, low-income, and impoverished Americans. Mitch McConnell bowed to his demand.

Corker has been a vocal opponent of Trump. However, he is a Republican, and money is his only god. Americans who have multiple real estate holdings, such as Trump and Corker will receive large tax credits, but late last week they became even bigger. It was an obvious move to inspire Corker to vote in favor of this destructive bill. Orrin Hatch claims that this is not true. And of course Corker denied the facts as well.

“It takes a great deal of imagination — and likely no small amount of partisanship — to argue that a provision that has been public for over a month, debated on the floor of the House of Representatives, included in a House-passed bill, and identified by JCT as an issue requiring a compromise between conferees is somehow a covert and last-minute addition to the conference report,” Hatch wrote.

If a Republican’s lips are moving, he’s lying. Not a single positive bill has been passed by Trump and his party in 10 months and 24 days. They are not concerned that this tax bill will harm the majority; remove healthcare from 13 million low income Americans; increase the number of Americans living below the poverty line; and add 1.5 trillion dollars to the deficit. They are only concerned with appeasing their largest supporters by giving them tax breaks.

The United States Senate of 2017 is the whitest and oldest in history. They are a perfect example of why term limits must be established for Congress as they are for the president. Hatch has been in office since 1977; that is at least 30 years too long. He has done more harm to the majority of the American people than good. No member of the House or Senate should serve more than 10 years; the same number of years allowed by the president.

Republicans do not represent the people; they are the party of the wealthy and will lie, cheat, and steal to win reelection.

I have absolutely no respect for our government. They should not be allowed to live lives of privilege and luxury while ignoring those who they were elected to serve.

I urge every eligible voter to go to the polls on November 6, 2018. This is our country, not theirs. We must remove their power, and refuse to send them back to Washington. Wal Mart is hiring.

Please re-post; thank you.
