I have not seen the new Star Wars movie “The Last Jedi,” and I won’t for quite a while; I don’t go to movie theaters any longer. However, I record the late night talk shows and read comments on the internet, and the response has been very positive. One right wing extremist group is protesting against the movie; and remember, it’s just a movie.

A group calling itself “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” had this to say. I warn you this may force you to laugh out loud uncontrollably.

“Star Wars” for “introducing more female characters into the franchise’s universe.” The group is also not happy that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) has become a “victim of the anti-mansplaining movement” and that characters like Poe and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) are in danger of being “turned gay.” The moderator said men should be “reinstated as rulers of society,” and expressed distaste for the way “The Last Jedi” disrespects the franchise’s history.

If these obviously white men really believe what they are saying, I have a rude awakening for them. They will soon be the minority, and women will be not only be ‘running our nation,’ but also living in the White House. Women control most of our nation’s wealth today. More women are enrolled in our colleges and universities than men for the first time in history. Old, white men are dying off, and millennials are less gender-centric.

As for the LGBTQ community; they’re not going anywhere. This is more of the “Trump/Pence” effect. Their goal is a white, Christian, anti-gay America; that’s not my America.
