Before he was sworn in, real Americans knew that Jeff Sessions would be the worst Attorney General in American history. His lifelong record of racism and bigotry, combined with his adoration of Donald Trump offered little hope that he would be a champion of our nation’s most needy and challenged citizens.

Recently Sessions removed 25 safeguards for Americans established by President Obama and then Attorney General, Eric Holder. These protections were designed to insulate vulnerable Americans from prejudicial and biased actions from law enforcement and other state and federal agencies. Naturally, many of these men and women are minorities, and they are Sessions’ primary targets for hatred and mistreatment.

Many of the guidelines which were removed will allow law enforcement greater leeway to operate in a more aggressive manner. Others will allow the wine and liquor industry to falsify the contents of their products. Once labeled as “destructive devices” by the ATF, “Streetsweeper Shotguns” are no longer banned. These are shotguns with a larger bore and disperse their pellets in a much wider area. They are not suitable for hunting purposes.

Trump gave himself a Christmas present when he signed the new tax bill, and Sessions is giving himself one as well. His gift is increased racism and violent action by law enforcement directed at African Americans and Hispanics.
