I frequently inform my readers that today’s GOP is ‘Republican in name only.’ There are many reasons for this, but at the center of my claim is the fact that former principles and beliefs they once professed no longer exist. Their base beliefs were smaller government and individual freedom. All Republican politicians now reject those ideals.

Under the failed leadership of Trump, McConnell, and Ryan, the government is attempting to control every aspect of every American’s life. The Justice Department, and fascist organizations such as ICE, and even your local police have become agents of Donald Trump.

There are several issues which should have remained private, but thanks to Republican’s servitude to lobbies, such as the Christian Religious Right, they seek control over personal decisions. The most contentious is a woman’s right to decide the health and future of her own body. Abortion would never be a political weapon if GOP politicians had not decided to violate the first amendment and support a single religious group.

It’s easy for men to decide that abortion should be banned; they don’t bear children. They will never be forced to endure the lifelong effects of an unwanted pregnancy. They will never face the most difficult choice any human can make when an unplanned pregnancy occurs. Men who support legislation which controls a woman’s decision about her own body are blithering idiots.

Republicans in Ohio have escalated their efforts to dominate women and insure that they remain second class Americans. Governor, and religious extremist, John Kasich, signed a law which prohibits abortions after prenatal tests reveal Down syndrome in a fetus or if there’s “any other reason to believe” the fetus has the genetic condition.

Republican men in the state legislature have decided that a woman must give birth to a child whose life will be difficult, and will require nearly super-human efforts by that child’s mother for decades to care for her son or daughter. This is inhuman. This is a choice that should be made by the mother and only the mother. Not even the sperm donor should be allowed to participate in this decision.

I believe that hatred is the most destructive human emotion by replacing intelligent thought. However, after writing about politics for years, I have serious feelings about Republicans. A party which I once respected no longer exists. They have moved so far to the right that they are adopting fascist ideals. I denounce Trump and his party which has failed the American people.

The GOP is approaching an implosion which will completely destroy it forever. The reasons are simple and undeniable. The infusion of extremist groups combined with weak leadership has resulted in outward unity, but internally, extreme disagreements have polarized the once Grand Old Party. 

Sadly, all Republicans have made the decision to chose hypocrisy and unify behind a morally defunct man whose efforts to destroy my America will be the cause of the second American Revolution.
