Trump made dozens of campaign promises, none of which he intended to keep after the election. After 11 months in office, Trump and his hypocritical party have finally passed one piece of legislation which was intentionally written to harm most Americans and be a gift to Trump and other wealthy citizens.
Two of Trump’s promises were made to the men and women who work in the coal and steel industries.
In most of America, natural gas has replaced coal, and it is a dying industry. Trump’s deregulation of the industry will increase the profits of the owners and operators of coal mines, but offers little relief to the working men and women who need it most.
Trump promised that our construction industry would use American manufactured steel was a huge lie. In September, ArcelorMittal announced that it would lay off 150 of the plant’s 207 workers next year. While the cuts will start with the most junior employees, they will go so deep that even workers with decades of experience will be cast out.
“I told my son, ‘Christmas is going to be kind of scarce, because mommy’s going to lose her job soon,’” said Kimberly Allen, a steelworker and single parent who has worked at the plant for more than 22 years. On the seniority list, she’s 72nd.
This is a “Merry Christmas” from Donald Trump who is at Mar-a-Lago spending his holiday with other millionaires and billionaires. What makes my stomach churn is that Trump continues to take credit for new jobs which are the result of President Obama’s policies. Trump is a destroyer, not a creator.
The truth is that a record amount of foreign steel is currently being imported into the United States, including the steel used in manufacturing the dangerous Keystone XL Pipeline.
This story should be no surprise; Trump’s lips were moving once again.
Please re-post; thank you.
