The reasons our founding fathers left England to form a new nation in the New World are many. However, they can all be simplified by three promises to every person; individual freedom, equality, and human rights. The new government was intended to serve the people; not rule over them.
Sadly, the ambitions of political parties have attempted to alter the dreams of our predecessors. Both Democrats and Republicans have influenced changes in government which restrict state’s rights and individual freedom.
Republicans are in control of Washington today. They have proven two things; they are unable to govern effectively, and they refuse to serve the majority; they and their wealthy supporters seek to control the daily lives of the majority of our nation’s people.
Our illegitimate president is attempting to destroy democracy and institute fascism. He is in direct opposition to the principles and ideals of our founding fathers.
Once again, thanks to Republican failures, our government is facing a crisis. A shutdown will become a reality in just hours. For a year Trump and his failed party have made every decision; have passed a destructive tax bill; and have lied constantly to protect their immoral and mentally incompetent president. Nothing has occurred in a bipartisan manner.
With the shutdown looming, Republicans are placing the blame on Democrats, although they have all of the power in Washington. Democrats are only demanding one inclusion in a temporary measure to stop the shutdown. They want to protect DACA; the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. These more than 800,000 young men and women know no other home than America. Trump and his Republicans are refusing to negotiate.
“My Democratic colleagues’ demands on illegal immigration, at the behest of their far-left base, have crowded out all other important business,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Thursday night.
This is standard operating procedure for Republicans; attack your opponents because you have no solutions.
Every time Democrats stand up for the people, Republicans scream foul. I am proud to be a liberal, and you should be as well. We believe in America; we support the Constitution; and we place the needs and wishes of the people ahead of corporate profits. We are the antithesis of those who call themselves Republicans today.
Trump cannot be compared to real Republican Presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, or others. He is an autocrat whose heroes are dictators and tyrants.
His party is no better. Every day they violate the Constitution by supporting special interests. Every day they fail to abide by the first amendment as the bow to one religion and ignore the rights of all others.
Time for change. Promise yourself that you will vote on November 6th, and encourage others to follow your example. Take your country back.
