You may not know Tammy Duckworth. She is a retired Lieutenant Colonel. While serving in Iraq she lost both legs. She is now a Democratic Senator from Illinois. Ms. Duckworth is the first Asian American woman elected in the state.

Trump continues to blame Democrats for his failure. He broke his promise to congress and the American people by refusing to accept a bipartisan plan which would have prevented the present government shutdown.

The media is focusing its attention on DACA, but it is far more complicated than one issue. Trump tweeted about a single effect of the shutdown, and of course it was inaccurate.

“Democrats are holding our Military hostage over their desire to have unchecked illegal immigration. Can’t let that happen!”

Senator Duckworth responded to his tweet with one of her own.

“I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft-dodger. And I have a message for cadet bone spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong-Un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops .. in danger.”

Let’s be perfectly clear here; Trump doesn’t care about our military, he cares about keeping an idiotic campaign promise; his unnecessary and costly wall. Meanwhile, his destructive tax plan will harm military families by cutting funding for veterans groups.

Finally, Trump canceled his plans to play golf and party at Mar-a-Lago, but has refuses to show any leadership in negotiations to reopen government offices. In 2013 he criticized President Obama for not displaying ‘leadership.’ Trump is a rich man; he expects everything to be done for him. He considers ‘tweeting’ to be leadership.

Do us a favor Donny Boy; go back to your golden tower and concentrate on golf and laundering money from Russian oligarchs.
