How Chuck Schumer Blew It and Revealed his lack of Strength and Courage

Schumer

This article will be based on my own opinion. The reason for that opinion is because Trump and McConnell never tell the truth, and they are not being honest today. In addition, I believe that Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, are the Democratic Party’s past. Liberals need younger, stronger and louder voices in leadership with the courage to stand up to the bully in the Oval Office.

McConnell promised to bring DACA to a vote in exchange for Schumer’s ‘yes’ vote to extend the budget talks and reopen the government. Trump will veto any measure that approves the legal residence of a single Hispanic immigrant.

Schumer’s response was weak and lacked a strong attack on the real culprit, Donald Trump.

Today Schumer may have slightly redeemed his lack of courage to force Trump’s involvement in the negotiations. He has removed his acceptance of Trump’s wall from the discussion.

“During the meeting, in exchange for strong [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] protections, I reluctantly put the border wall on the table for the discussion. Even that was not enough to entice the president to finish the deal,” Schumer said from the Senate floor early Saturday.

I think that is the right thing to do, but here’s my complaint.

After Schumer caved on the shutdown, he should have stood before the cameras and said the following.

I am glad that thousands of government employees will be returning to work. However, let’s tell the truth here. This was a Donald Trump shutdown. He promised that if we completed a bipartisan proposal to end the budget crisis, he would sign it, regardless of its content. You lied to us Mr. President, and I and my constituents can no longer trust you or believe what you tell us. You have conducted yourself for one year in a totally partisan manner, and this, sir, is fascism. You must accept the responsibility for this situation, as you claimed that you would in 2011 and 2012. Be a man and stand by your own words.”

This is what we need; the time to be nice ended months ago.

It’s time for the left to move back to the left; nice guys either finish last or do not finish at all.
