I must admit one thing I have kept deep inside for over a year. The only person I believed would have been a worse president than Donald Trump was Ted Cruz; okay, so I was wrong again. There are many reasons why he has the reputation of being the ‘most hated man in Washington.’ His personal ambitions surpass any possible positive qualities he may have once possessed.
Nothing about Cruz is real. He was elected because of his association with the TEA Party. He would never have won representing himself as a true Republican. He is a man without principles. His claim to be a Christian is nothing more than a political ploy.
Cruz was finally supported by his party in the last days of the primaries. He was their last resort to defeat Trump. (Of course today, hypocrites in the Republican Party fully support the worst president in history.) Although Trump called Cruz’ wife, Heidi, ‘ugly’ and even ‘grotesque,’ and claimed that his father was a conspirator in the assassination of John F. Kennedy, he campaigned for Trump after he withdrew from his own candidacy. He is now a big Trump supporter.
His college classmates described him as ‘arrogant’ and ‘unlikable.’ Lindsey Graham once said that “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
Finally, let’s not forget that it was Cruz who led Republicans to a government shutdown in his first year in the senate; 2013. It was obvious that his only goal was the presidency.
Cruz is now revealing his true self once again. Although his story is similar to the ‘Dreamers,’ he rejects a path to citizenship for 800,000 young men and women who have never known any other country but America.
Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada. He was brought to the States as a young child. Because his mother was a citizen, he is legally a natural born citizen himself. This is how he feels about these young men and women who are as American as he is.
“I do not believe we should be granting a path to citizenship to anybody here illegally,” Cruz told reporters, according to Bloomberg. “Doing so is inconsistent with the promises we made to the men and women who elected us.”
“For some reason that to me is utterly inexplicable, we see Republicans falling all over themselves to gallop to the left of [former President] Obama in a way that is contrary to the promises made to the voters who elected us,” he added.
First of all Cruz is ignoring the wishes of 85 percent of the American people who support the ‘Dreamers.’ Secondly, he is pandering. He will certainly challenge Trump in 2020, and is appealing to Trump’s base.
As I said before, nothing about Cruz is real. If the people of Texas have any backbone; any common sense; he will lose his reelection campaign in November.
