Deadline for a Government Spending Bill is One Week Away: Another Shutdown?

827e2-hypocrites

Republicans are very busy in Washington. They are spending most of their time discussing Devin Nunes’ memo which is apparently nothing more than a fake conspiracy theory. What they’re not doing is working on the budget, which if not passed in a week will force another government shutdown.

In addition, Mitch McConnell promised Chuck Schumer that a discussion about immigration would begin by that date. This appears to be another lie from ‘the turtle.’ There has been little discussion about the possible content of a bill which will address multiple situations including the future of the ‘Dreamers.’

You might be asking yourself ‘what does congress do in the few calendar days they are in Washington?’ The answer is ‘find ways to save Trump’s illegitimate presidency.’ They are not working on the many problems which affect you and me.

Republicans control the House and the Senate. What we have learned in just over one year is that they are incapable of governing our nation. Only a single piece of significant legislation has been passed, and it will harm most Americans, with the exception of Trump and other billionaires and millionaires.

In eight previous years Republicans failed to pass one bill while President Obama was in the White House. Racism is a trademark of the GOP, and they are celebrating the fact that the leader of the white nationalism movement is now soiling the White House sheets with drippings from his cheeseburgers.

If you are not a political junkie, as I am, you are probably asking why Democrats and Republicans cannot find common ground on the budget. The answer is that numerous issues are attached about which the two parties disagree, and the money planned for the Pentagon is a testimony to government waste.

Over the last 20 years, or more, our government has forgotten how to deliberate issues and find a compromise. This is why democracy is in great danger. Partisan politics results in a failed government.
