President Obama selected the best of the best as his chief advisers, including his cabinet. They replaced the controversial choices by his predecessor, George W. Bush. Bush’s vice-president, Dick Cheney, his chief political adviser, Karl Rove, and his Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, were ambitious and arrogant men whose advice was extremely questionable.
Donald Trump’s choices make Bush look like a genius. America has the worst government in history. The men and a couple of token women who surround Trump have a single purpose; to cover-up his lies and soothe his fragile ego. None of them are qualified for the positions they hold in his administration.
Let’s go back to 2016. Trump’s first three choices did not just raise eyebrows, they were extremely controversial. Steve Bannon was selected as his ‘chief strategist, although he is a self proclaimed white nationalist, an Islamophobe, a homophobe, and a misogynist. Jeff Sessions is a well-known racist. Trump proved that he is also a white supremacist by choosing Bannon, and added proof to this fact by nominating Sessions as his Attorney General. Sessions has confirmed his bigotry by removing many of the protections offered by President Obama’s administration. Finally he selected RNC Chairman Reince Priebus as his Chief of Staff. Another questionable choice, but I and other politicos assumed it was an effort to appease party moderates. Two of the three are no longer in the White House.
Trump replaced Priebus with his Secretary of Homeland Security, John Kelly. Kelly is a former General, and is believed to have been chosen because of his ability to ground his boss. We have learned much about Kelly, and it’s not good. He is also a white supremacist, and a sexist. His anti-immigration stance is shared by Trump, and another chief adviser Stephen Miller.
Recently when Trump aide Rob Porter was forced to resign after allegations of domestic violence, Kelly initially supported him, calling him a ‘fine person,’ and a man of ‘great integrity.’ Although one of Porter’s ex-wives revealed a picture of herself with a black eye she claims was given to her by Porter, Kelly continued to offer his support.
In a ‘Trump-like’ action, Kelly is now backing away from his praise for Porter. This is his latest comment.
“There is no place for domestic violence in our society,” he said in a statement released on Wednesday night.
Now think about Wilbur Ross, Ryan Zinke, Scott Pruitt, Betsy DeVos, Steve Mnuchin, Ben Carson, and the others. This is not a group who could efficiently run a lemonade stand.
If we add the failed “leadership” of Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, you will understand why the November election will be the most important in American history. Only the people can save our nation. Please vote!
