Trump entered Washington with a dream; to end democracy and establish an extreme capitalist society known as a ‘plutocracy.’ His goal is to return our nation to the drastic and criminal conditions suffered by workers during the first quarter of the 20th century.
Until the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932, the government, the military, and all law enforcement were controlled by corporate leaders including the Rockefeller and Carnegie families. Miners were subjected to extremely unsafe working conditions for very little pay. When they unionized and protested, they were thrown out of their homes and forced to live in tents.
During one horrific incident in Ludlow, Colorado, on April 20, 1914, approximately two dozen miners, their wives, and children were slaughtered in their tents by the national guard which were ordered to end the strike by the governor. The mine was owned by John D. Rockefeller.
Plutocracy is nothing new in America, and our nation is rapidly moving in the direction of the early 20th century; the darkest days for American workers to date.
Franklin D. Roosevelt will forever be known as the greatest president in American history by the working class. Under his leadership the majority of Americans; the working class; were the priority. Laws, workplace regulations, and programs such as Social Security and Medicare are the direct result of the great man’s presidency. Mr. Roosevelt’s reluctance to enter WWII was based on his awareness that the wealthy do not fight wars, they are won or lost by working class Americans who are never part of the decision to enter wars or to sign peace treaties. Capitalists profit from wars, while the working class dies fighting for them.
Today the working class is once again under siege. Long before Trump considered the possibility of living in public housing, the White House, the Republican Party began a war on the working class. Lobbyist gave them orders regarding which way to vote on the issues; always favoring the wealthy and harming the majority. Republicans aligned themselves with the men and corporations who own them today. These include the petroleum industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the Christian Religious Right, and the NRA which represents gun manufacturers and gun sellers; to name just a few. The driving forces behind the GOP today are the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson.
When Trump was gifted the Electoral College on November 8, 2016 with the aid of Vladimir Putin, James Comey, and the American media, Republicans received the great possibility of ending democracy with a leader who had only his personal goals as an agenda, and the reality of a one-party rule was given to them. Their dream of a nation controlled by capitalism became a reality.
Thanks to increased support for corporations, also known as capitalists, the middle class has all but disappeared. Nearly one-half of all Americans live in the low-income level, or below the poverty line. Income inequality is growing at an alarming pace with Republicans in complete control of Washington.
Your vote does count. Rid our nation of the disease which is rapidly spreading across our nation. Republicans and their capitalist owners must be given their pink slips on November 6, 2018. Please vote in the most important election in American history; save our beloved country.
“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt
