In 1990 Republican President George H.W. Bush signed the ‘American with Disabilities Act;’ the ADA. It was a great step forward to insure that Americans who suffered from physical and mental disabilities would receive aid which would allow them to have access to lives more similar to non-disabled Americans.
For a short time I drove a minibus for a company called ‘RTC Access’ here in Reno. This service was a direct result of the 1990 ADA Act. I was drawn to tears multiple times during my training. I witnessed individuals similar to those I knew when I was much younger receiving treatment and consideration which gave them value and respect. I was proud and felt that for the first time in my life I was doing something which made a difference. Sadly, because of a personal physical impairment, I was not allowed to become a full time employee of that company.
I not only learned a lot from that experience, I was left with a new awareness. I experienced an effort which moved our nation forward, and was intended to increase our nation’s dedication to become more respected and more focused on the needs of our people.
Today the Republican Party no longer exists. These men and women who use the label are not Americans and have no interest for the majority of the American people.
On Thursday House Republicans voted nearly unanimously to roll back benefits for those men and women who are cared for under the Americans with Disabilities Act. This includes thousand of our military who fought in our unwinnable wars, created by politicians.
This is your ‘Republican in name only’ party today.
Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Trump hate the American people unless they are members of the billionaire and millionaire’s club. We, the 99 percent, have no value to GOP politicians.
Would you like to change these facts? It’s easy. We have the bigger weapon and it is nothing more than a pull on the lever of a voting machine. We can destroy Trump’s power, and end Republican tyranny on November 6th. Vote, and encourage everyone you know to do the same. We can restore American values to our nation.
