“So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior,” Trump tweeted, inexplicably threading the message to a two-day-old tweet about immigration reform. “Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!”

The truth is that his actions were reported multiple times to school authorities.

In true Republican tradition, Trump placed most of the blame on mental illness. The fact that he legally purchased an assault rifle at 19 had nothing to do with it. In February of 2017, Trump signed a bill which removed the ban on gun sales to Americans with mental illness; another lie from your illegitimate president.

I am sick and tired of writing about the deaths of innocent men, women, and children, knowing that the majority of these senseless killings could be prevented. The NRA gun lobby owns every member of the Republican Party, and prevents them from doing the right thing.

The greatest fallacy is shouting ‘second amendment rights.’ Nothing in the second amendment guarantees individual citizens the right to own military weapons, which have a single purpose; to kill as many of the enemy as possible in the shortest period of time. The second amendment does not prevent comprehensive background checks for all gun purchases.

The NRA and other gun advocates talk about self defense. In a moment of crisis not one in ten Americans could hit their attackers. Buy a shotgun; you can’t miss!

Let us all demand that our elected officials do the right thing. The slaughter of innocents must stop. All Americans have the right to go to a movie, attend a concert, go to church, or send their children to school without fearing for their lives.

This is another reason why Republicans must be removed from power.
