I am a huge critic of the media, primarily television ‘news.’ Broadcasts last for 90 minutes or more, and the American people are less informed than we were 50 or 60 years ago. Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, and others gave us everything we needed to know in just 30 minutes.
Not only do today’s ‘pretend journalists’ fail to report information which affects our future, they often allow the truth to be twisted. After the November 8, 2016 election, I promised myself to never watch a broadcast ‘news’ show again; I have kept that promise.
Advertising has become more important than the American people’s right to know the facts. Trump received five times more coverage during the campaign than all other candidates combined. His vile rhetoric was supported while he ignored the issues. Candidates such as Hillary Clinton who did talk about the issues were ignored unless a possible scandal arose. Trump has been held to the lowest standard possible in the history of American elections.
Today a single proven fact has been virtually ignored by the media. Russia interfered in our 2016 election. There is no doubt about this reality. However, entertainers on the networks allow Trump to deny the truth without comment. Trump is a white supremacist, but you will never hear this fact on CBS, ABC, NBC, and of course Fox Noise.
John McCain, the senior Republican Senator from Arizona is fighting brain cancer. For much of his career, he has been a voice of reason in the Republican Party. He is now speaking the truth about the Russian investigation by Robert Mueller, another story you will not hear on Broadcast ‘news.’
After the pitiful ‘Nunes memo’ was released, McCain said “if we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”
Speaking about the Mueller investigation, he urged his colleagues to cease appraising it through “the warped lens of politics.”
“In 2016, the Russian government engaged in an elaborate plot to interfere in an American election and undermine our democracy,” McCain said. “… While we have no evidence that these efforts affected the outcome of our election, I fear they succeeded in fueling political discord and dividing us from one another.”
I would disagree with one point. There is sufficient proof to claim that the election was altered. Russian efforts on social media resulted in a lower voter turnout than expected. Trump’s victory in the Electoral College was decided by a total of approximately 77,000 votes in three states; Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. This is why the Electoral College must be revoked. Hillary won the popular vote by nearly three million ballots.
The American people desperately need more Republican voices in Washington who will offer the truth when Trump lies. 99 percent of all GOP politicians are hypocrites and cowards.
