“Never Again,” #MeToo, “Time’s Up;” These Movements are at the Forefront of a Revolution

Youth Rally

For a very long time I have believed that our nation needs a second revolution. Hopefully it will be non-violent; we can defeat the Republican Party; the enemy; with our vote. However the importance of taking back our nation for the people is worth any price.

It all began with women who had the courage to stand up to their attackers. Rich and powerful men, from your illegitimate president to a Hollywood producer, have taken advantage of women for more than 100 years. The #MeToo movement was launched. Hundreds of well-known women have come forward with details, names, and places about how, who and where they were violated.

After the Golden Globes Awards, when Oprah Winfrey made a memorable speech about all women and their rights to equal treatment, the “Time’s Up” movement joined with the #MeToo movement. Since that time women across the nation have come together. They are not fighting fragile egos, or measuring the size of their ‘manhood.’ The women who organized the ‘Women’s March on Washington, the #MeToo movement and the “Time’s Up” celebrity involvement have unified to lead the American people into what will hopefully be an historical election.

Now a new and extremely important group of Americans have become involved in the future of our nation.

After a cowardly young shooter murdered 17 students and teachers in Parkland Florida on Valentine’s Day, the students who survived the assault could have remained home and mourned. Instead, many of them displayed incredible courage and began demanding a change in our national agenda.

In 2018 there have already been 18 shootings in our nation’s schools. Most were committed by mentally challenged young, white men, who were angry with their treatment by either the faculty or their fellow students. Until Valentine’s Day, none of the incidents had involved an assault rifle.

The students from Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School refused to accept what had happened in their school. Their protests began a movement across the nation. Students walked out of classrooms across the nation to protest against our cowardly and corrupt government. Its refusal to ban military-style weapons is to blame for most of the deaths at Sandy Hook Elementary, and at the high school in Florida.

Republicans, the NRA, and Donald Trump have attempted to blame everyone but themselves and they have failed. This movement will not be stopped.

We have three groups who have joined with the ‘Women’s March.’ The Republican Party cannot continue to lie to tens of millions of Americans who are no longer accepting what can only be called bullshit. Our nation’s young men and women will join with them, and the power of numbers will defeat our enemies. Millennials, our nation’s largest voting demographic, can relate to the generation which is now entering voting age.

We are stronger than a failed political party and a gun lobby whose only goal is increased profits for a billion dollar industry.

The war has begun, and the victory is at hand. Our votes will be the ultimate weapon in the upcoming battle in November. Time to take back America for all real Americans.
